Importance of storytelling:
1. Introduces new vocabulary to the children: Listening to stories enhances a child’s vocabulary. When they see pictures or figurines, their imaginative thinking broadens.
2. Enhances child’s reasoning ability, listening skills, creativity and imagination.
3. Stories listened on TV or Ipad will not be as effective as the ones read from a book or told by a child! When you tell a story or encourage a child to weave his own story, you are helping them develop lot of wonderful traits that an ipad or laptop can never justify.
4. It is a fun, play-based learning activity by itself and a great way to keep children occupied while at home. It is a very interactive activity where you can build conversation and have a fun time with your child.

Additional information

Weight 1400 g

1. For younger children – you can tell your own story based on the elements and characters provided in the set. Use the wooden cut-outs as props for your story.

2. The wooden cut outs serve as a great exploratory medium for younger children. Let them touch, feel, explore these. You can talk about their names to them. You can ask them to form a simple sentence using 2 or more wooden cut-outs.

3. Use this as a fine motor work! Young toddlers can practice sticking the wooden cutouts to the flannel board and acts a great fine motor activity!

4. For older children – present any one or more prompt cards to the child, and let him weave his own story using the elements and characters. Have a fun session, ask questions, tweak the story – create fictional characters, add more elements from around the house if you wish to!

5. You can play I Spy game with the different wooden  figurines (I spy with my little eye a bird, and the child can hand it over to you)

6. Make this into a gross motor activity! Place the flannel board on a table / against wall. Keep the wooden cut-outs at the other corner of the room. Let your child pick one wooden cut-out from the corner of the room and walk / skip / jump all the way to the flannel board and stick them on it!

7. Make it into a command game! (e.g Simon says he wants you to hand over a “house” cutout)
